Melyuna Terms of Use

Note: This is an English translation for convenience. In case of any conflict, the Turkish version prevails.

1. Parties and Subject Matter

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern the agreement between Ramazan Karayıldız ("Melyuna", "we") and the person using the Melyuna mobile application and related services ("Service") ("User", "you").

By downloading, creating an account on, or using the Service, you are deemed to have read and accepted these Terms, the Community Guidelines, the Privacy Policy, and the Privacy Notice. If you do not accept them, do not use the Service.

3. Eligibility and Account

  1. The Service is open only to persons who are 18 years of age or older. Date of birth is requested at registration solely for the 18+ check; if you are found to be under 18, your account will be closed.
  2. Multi-provider sign-in is offered for registration: email (one-time code), Google, Apple, phone (SMS), Telegram, and Facebook (the email method is currently active; the others will be enabled progressively). We do not request e-Devlet, national ID number, identity documents, or biometric data; there is no periodic re-verification.
  3. You may register only with your own identity information. Transferring, selling, or lending your account to another person is prohibited.
  4. You represent that the information you provide is accurate, current, and belongs to you.

4. Account Security

  1. Access to your account is your responsibility; protect your device and your access to your sign-in methods (email, phone, social accounts).
  2. If you notice any unauthorized use of your account, notify us immediately at support@melyuna.com.
  3. Technical measures such as rate limiting are applied to prevent abuse.

5. Nature of the Service

  1. Melyuna is a platform for meeting people, friendship, and language exchange; it does not guarantee any particular outcome, match, or relationship.
  2. Melyuna does not have absolute control over the identity, statements, or behavior of other users. Optional selfie verification and the "Verified" badge indicate that the person's image has been reviewed by the Team; beyond that, they are not an absolute identity guarantee.
  3. We may modify, suspend, or terminate the Service from time to time. We will inform you in advance where possible.

6. Location and Discovery

  1. Your coarse GPS location is collected only with your permission. The server applies snap-to-grid rounding (approximately 1 km) and a fixed jitter to your location.
  2. Your raw GPS coordinates are never shown to other users; only a banded distance (e.g., "~5 km") is displayed.
  3. Country information is derived from your location for filters such as "foreigners only", worldwide, and similar. Location is not derived from a university email.
  4. With the "Travel / Passport" feature you can virtually browse another city; your stored real location does not change while doing so.

7. Acceptable Use

You must comply with the Community Guidelines when using the Service. In particular and without limitation, the following are prohibited:

Violation of these prohibitions results in enforcement under Section 13.

8. User Content and License

  1. The User Content you share belongs to you. You represent that you have the right to share your content.
  2. To enable us to provide the Service (to store, display, show your content to your matches and in the feed, and to perform safety/moderation), you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, transferable, sublicensable, and limited license to use it. This license ends when you delete your content or close your account (subject to technical/backup requirements).
  3. We reserve the right to remove or restrict access to content that violates the rules, is unlawful, or puts others at risk.
  4. Your media is hosted on Supabase Storage.

9. Intellectual Property

The Melyuna name, logo, software, design, and all elements other than User Content belong to Melyuna or its licensors. You may not copy, modify, or commercially exploit these elements without permission.

10. Privacy and Personal Data

How we process your personal data is explained in the Privacy Notice, Privacy Policy, and Explicit Consent Text. By using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read these documents. Because Melyuna operates worldwide, your data is processed under the KVKK (Turkey), GDPR (EU), and general global privacy frameworks. Your explicit consent is separately obtained for special-category data and cross-border transfers.

11. Accessibility of Messages on the Server (Important)

For safety and moderation purposes (review of reports, combating fraud and abuse), one-to-one chat messages are not end-to-end encrypted (no E2EE). Messages are encrypted in transit and at rest; however, the authorized Team may access messages when necessary, and such access is logged. By messaging, you accept this. Push/web-push notifications may show the sender's name and a short preview. A translation feature is available in chat. See the Privacy Notice for details. We recommend that you do not share sensitive financial/identity information in messages.

12. Fees and Purchases

  1. Basic use of the Service is free. Optional digital products/features that may be offered in the future (e.g., boosts, super-likes/"sparks", virtual gifts) are purchased through the Apple App Store / Google Play and are subject to the relevant store terms.
  2. Withdrawal/refund for digital products applies within the framework of the relevant store policies and consumer legislation.

13. Suspension and Termination

  1. Reporting, blocking, and unmatching: You may report, block, or unmatch a user. Blocking takes effect immediately.
  2. Manual review: Reports are reviewed by the Team; ban decisions are made manually by the Team, not automatically. In the case of CSAM/minor exceptions, content is frozen immediately and automatically, and legal reports are filed.
  3. If you violate the Terms or the Community Guidelines, we may warn, restrict, suspend, or close your account.
  4. You may delete your account at any time from within the app. Deletion occurs as a soft delete; you can undo it within 14 days, after which it becomes permanent (see Data Retention and Disposal Policy). Limited records kept to prevent abuse (e.g., hashed ban data) may be retained. You may also suspend your account and manage your blocked list.

14. Limitation of Liability and Disclaimer

  1. The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent permitted by law, no implied warranties, including of uninterrupted or error-free operation, are given.
  2. Melyuna is not a party to the interactions, statements, or offline meetings between users and cannot be held liable for damages arising from them. Prioritize your own safety when meeting others (public places, telling someone you trust, etc.).
  3. To the extent permitted by law, Melyuna's total liability is limited. This clause does not eliminate your rights arising from consumer legislation.

15. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify Melyuna, to the extent permitted by law, for direct damages and costs Melyuna incurs due to your violation of the Terms or applicable legislation.

16. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes in the app or by email. Continuing to use the Service after an update means you accept the changes. Your consent is recorded together with the version number and date.

17. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye. For users who qualify as consumers, the mandatory consumer-protection provisions of your country of residence are reserved.
